Earworm in the Apple

"New York is what Paris was in the twenties...the center of the art world. And we want to be in the center. It's the greatest place on Earth..." - John Lennon

Governors Ball on Randall’s Island; June 7, 2014. The weather was perfect (compared to last year’s mud bowl), and Saturday’s line-up was by far the favorite for me: PAPA, Lucius, Broken Bells,The Strokes (Round 2!) and Jack White.  It was mayhem for The Strokes (especially for their encore NYC Cops) and a great end to the night with Jack White. Props to Governors Ball organizers as well because everything ran smoothly on Saturday.  A HUGE thanks to Societe Perrier for the opportunity to go on Saturday!!

The Strokes at Capital Theatre in Port Chester; April 26, 2014. This is in my top 5 shows of all time. I think the cliche of The Strokes being a formative band for me rings true and despite band dynamics, this show was pure music lover bliss.

Langhorne Slim at Rough Trade NYC, April 9, 2014. I first saw Langhorne Slim play in Charleston at Music Farm in 2006 and ever since, I make sure I don’t miss his live performances when he comes through town. You can count on him for high energy, dancing and entertaining and sincere stage banter.

The Zombies, British Consulate in New York, May 6, 2014. It was such an honor not only meeting Colin Blunstone and Rod Argent from The Zombies but also hearing them play some of their most popular songs including “She’s Not There”; “Tell Her No”; and “Time of the Season.” This was one of my favorite events I organized for work. Colin and Rod still sound amazing, continuing over 53 years of recording music.

Ben Kweller at Bowery Ballroom; May 6, 2014.  BK has been one of my all time faves since seeing him in Athens at Tasty World in 2001. He always puts on amazing shows with the audience knowing every lyric.

Arctic Monkeys at Madison Square Garden; February 9, 2014. Needless to say, the last time I saw Arctic Monkeys, it was in a much smaller venue.  One of the highlights: cover of The Beatles’ “All My Loving”

Broken Bells (James Mercer and Dangermouse) at Baby’s All Right; January 31, 2014.

Rod Stewart and his skinny legs still put on an incredible live show!  Madison Square Garden, December 9, 2013

Blood Orange playing “Cupid Deluxe” in its entirety at their album release show. 285 Kent on November 15, 2013  (Opener: Le1F) I absolutely loved lead singer Devonte Hynes with the full band.
